Partnerships
The Office of the Provost partners with ADVANCE at UNM, the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Faculty Development Research Office, and other units to support faculty in their roles as teachers, researchers, leaders.
ADVANCE
ADVANCE at UNM is a program to support successful and fulfilling faculty careers at the university. Since 2016, the program has hosted hundreds of faculty development workshops and meetings across campus on topics including securing and managing research grants, building an enjoyable career, and succeeding on the promotion and tenure track. View some past workshops or access ADVANCE’s current calendar of events for all faculty.
ADVANCE works with leaders from the Provost’s Office on policies and initiatives to support the wellbeing of all faculty and publishes research and reports on faculty climate and wellbeing. ADVANCE also works with partners including the Center for Teaching and Learning, SHAC, the Dean of Students Office, CARS and Ombuds Services to create a variety of guides to faculty support, wellness services, teaching and research resources and more.
ADVANCE’s communications and community engagement efforts include highlighting the work of all UNM faculty through campaigns such as its Faculty Fanfare series of “digital high fives” and other online content including a YouTube channel. Get in touch at advance.unm.edu if you’d like to tell ADVANCE about your work or you want to recommend the work of a colleague for one of ADVANCE’s news stories.
Center for Teaching and Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning partners with faculty, students, and staff to create collaborative and innovative learning environments. CTL fosters the continued growth of an inclusive community of learners by creating spaces and opportunities for reflection and dialogue around evidence-based and learner-centered approaches to teaching and learning. CTL provides varied professional development opportunities for faculty, including a Spring Teaching Conference, communities of practice, consultation and course design support, and numerous workshops throughout the year.
Faculty Research Development Office (FRDO)
The Faculty Research Development Office (FRDO) expands and diversifies UNM’s research capabilities through activities and programs that create a competitive advantage for extramural funding. FRDO provides tailored services and resources to assist with the creation and submission of funding proposals.
